ANTIQUE 1923 ETCHING ON PAPER | DOROTHY WOOLLARD | WATERLOO BRIDGE, ENGLAND | FREE SHIPPING IN CANADA

$300.00

Special antique (100 years!) beautifully framed original etching on paper of the famed Waterloo bridge, London, England; piece is signed in pencil by artist & engraver
‘Dorothy Woollard’ | English 1886-1986

This wonderful etching captures a bustling historic London scene featuring the original Waterloo bridge which crossed over the river Thames in London between Blackfriars Bridge and Hungerford Bridge. The bridge was both a road and a foot traffic bridge.
We get a sneak peek in this unique etching at the colourful assortment of
travellers & traffic that would have been crossing over the bridge at this time in history.

Originally built and completed in 1817, the bridge was dismantled and re built… apparently the balusters from the original bridge, seen in this etching were particularly sought after and were offered up for sale as there were many… anyone could turn up at the
construction site and take one home for one British Pound Sterling with the money going toward the London City Council; and I’m sure they still exist today in gardens across England!

Back label: The Colerick Gallery 212 Dundas Street, London, Canada

15.5” W x 12.75” H x .5” D Framed
In excellent antique condition, as found; with existing burled wooden frame, etching is on cream laid paper framed under glass | Original back paper | Ready to hang
