VINTAGE ETCHING ON PAPER | BY PRESTON CRIBB | 'THE OLD TOLBOOTH', GLASGOW

$0.00
sold out

This is a beautiful etching on paper framed under glass & as marked it depicts:
‘The Old Tolbooth’, Glasgow and signed by Preston Cribb (1876-1937) who was an illustrator and etcher who studied at Portsmouth & London and exhibited at The Royal Academy

The Tolbooth or literally the ‘town house’, was the main municipal building or town clerk’s office in a Scottish Burgh from medieval times until the 19th century.

This tower would have been part of a larger building and provided the back drop for many of the city’s dramatic events back in the day such as dealings with witches, thieves and murderers!!

11.5” W x 14.5” H x .5” D (frame depth) Framed dimensions
In excellent vintage condition, as found, in original black wooden frame, ready to hang
